Default Ulster Home Guard

Hi am sure I saw thread on the Forum regards this badge? possibly other items to the Ulster Home Guard also?

Useless when I try to find stuff - I Actually Don't Find It!

Here is what could be a Cap badge for the Unit, or then again could be a normal Royal Ulster Constabulary badge, (but I am off the opinion Constabulary badges had little strips of metal rather than lugs? at that time?) So can someone put me straight regards this, or post a link to the Original thread?

Would like this to be an Ulster Home Guard badge, but it probably isn't!

Many thanks in advance Billy

Billy, I have the "same" badge as you down as a Ulster Home Guard one, with lugs, as I believe they did wear the same badge as the RUC. ( I wait to be proved wrong).
I also have this collection of UHG shoulder titles. They are all repro until I can find original examples. More chance of getting hen's teeth.

You are properly right about the badge but as it is the "same" as the RUC badge, I thought I would include it. Who is to say that they did or did not wear it????

They certainly wouldn’t have worn that WM London Irish example as it’s a Marsh fake I’m afraid. Notwithstanding the London Irish badge isn’t the ‘same’ as the RUC’s badge.

I’ve never seen or read anything to suggest UHG ever wore London Irish cap badge. Most of the photos I’ve seen of them they’re either wearing tin hats or unbadged side caps but I have seen a couple pics of what appears to be the WM RUC collar being worn.

Curiously the Ulster museum has a UHG uniform with a side cap sporting a right facing RUC collar.
