Parachute Regt green backing
Guys, this anodised Parachute Regt cap badge ( with lugs) came many years ago on a very badly mothed beret, which had to go. I kept a small piece of the fabric ( pretty much the only bit without holes) with the badge attached which had an unusual, shaped dark green backing.
Any info or ideas, greatly received. Regrds all Bess |

Possibly the Gurkha Independent Parachute Company 1963-1971
‘In June 1966, the Company was formally affiliated to the Parachute Regiment and its members wore the maroon beret and badge of the regiment, the latter worn on a rifle green backing bearing the colours of the Brigade of Gurkhas.’ Tim

Thats a good call Tim, if they wore that prior to the oblong backing with ribbon colours. I do have one of those and Its the right shade of green .
Be nice if it was . . . |

The post war 17 PARA (TA) had a rifle green diamond badge backing until it became part of 4 PARA (V) in the late 1960s. (The same backing as used by 7 (Light Infantry) Para Bn in WWII).

Thanks Colin. Tim's Gurkha suggestion may be right.
It's an odd backing for someone to put on there for no reason - especially being shaped. Another potential mystery |
