Default Coldstream Guards

Got this today 1900 era Sergeants/Colour Sergeants cap star. You can see from the back it was mercury gilded, not so much from the front. Shame, still nice though. I picked it up at Horncastle, I saw it in a cabinet, but couldn't tell what it was, until I saw the back. I was well chuffed, it was £5.....

I can't see the shame part if it. Very nice indeed. Could it not be that it was done by the wearer, perhaps for walking out whilst still in service?

CB there is an Irish Guards version on this forum, with sealed pattern info too.
