Default IS this WW2 badge and beret?

Hello again fellow Brit./Can. military collectors. I recently bought this badge and beret. I think badge is original WW2, but not sure about beret. Could it be private purchase beret? Bought as WW2, but have doubts. Beret has no markings, no leather badge support interior and no grommet vent holes. It is also 3 piece construction.

Thanks for any info.

I don't think the beret and badge are British for the simple reason that the RA wore collar badges in their GS caps and berets during WW2. The beret sized gun badge did not come into use until post war. The red backing is not a British trait.

Would Red Backing not indicate it is possibly South African?

Looking at the beret, it looks like some Barathea wool and I had initially thought about a GS cap, which is obviously not.

This was told as a Canadian WW2 beret and badge. Badge is large size. These are pictures of it.
