Default Officers 8 RECCE collars

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/380389086868?...fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

An unusual pair of officers 8 RECCE badges, the rear attachments are tabs or pins. I have never seen this type before, maybe sand casts or some type of reproduction but the patina seems real enough but that too can be faked. Is there two types of officers collars for the 8 RECCE, one with CANADA and one without? Good price though, I was going to bid but forgot.

Hi Mike, Not collars, but the overlay for the cap badge. The pins bend over to fasten the overlay on.

Default 8th RECCE

Interesting, there was a capbadge on ebay a while ago missing the center piece too. Should have bid on both and saved a bundle.

I thought the same thing. Note the overlay is the pattern with CANADA in the scroll.

Sorry... double posted by accident.... I've got it down as Mazeas c40a is a duff badge... I'm sure there will be more said on this by others but I think it's also been accredited as a mistake by Mazeas...

Default Mazeas c40a

Mazeas c40a is for real, though most likely a private purchase item. (I personally know of only three completed examples). My example of the CANADA scroll VIII RECCE Officer’s cap badge is maker marked T.Miles, London. An investigation into this maker shows that he was a badge maker during the Second World War period, and advertised as a “Military Badge Manufacturer” in the London trades section throughout the War. I’ve also being able to confirm that my badge is made of Sterling Silver, as marked.

James
