Glengarry Badge Lug Positions?
Hi Gents,
Is there a standard position for lugs on glengarry badges? My 53rd Foot (Shropshire) has them East/West, which I have always considered correct. However I have seen a number of examples now (offered for sale) with lugs North/South which I have always considered a red flag. Is is that simple (probably not!) or have I got it wrong? Would one of the more knowledgable glengarry collectors care to comment? Cheers, Roy

Roy,
No its not that simple I'm afraid. I have 2 to the 63rd Foot both N & S. I have two to the 96th Foot, one N & S and one E & W. All 100% originals. regards

Thanks Simon,
I live in hope that things can be simple but often (as in this case) it's never that easy, mores the pity. Cheers, Roy

As Simon said they can be eather way, if look at the old posts on this subject, it seems on the Garter type, north to south with brass lugs is a good sign.

53rd Regiment of Foot
An old thread but for reference as gg pics for comparison are a bit sparse on the forum, one I acquired recently.
Seems a good match for the badge shown in KK. |
