Default 14 RHA flash

This purports to have been an arrangement worn on the bush hat by 14 RHA (Essex Yeomanry). The colours don't match those of the Essex Yeomanry. Has an expert any ideas?

Default 14 RHA

Mike,

I don't recognise the colours as EY. I think this badge, or similar was sold on ebay sometime last year. Offhand I thought the regimental ribbon may have been dark red and black but I cannot find a reference now.

Stephen.

Thanks. I think it may be the figment of somebody's imagination. I've been unable to find a single reference to any particular insignia adopted by 14 RHA. Three seaxes on a red/blue diamond would have been more logical on a bush hat.

Mike,

I've exchanged emails with Keith Hook on this. He doesn't think it is correct either. I think he'd appreciate hearing from you on the matter.

Regards, Stephen.

I'm sure I've seen that ribbon a a couple of suspicious looking hats of late I think one had a Rhodesian badge on it. Is the hat dated?

Mike,

There's no mention in Gee's regimental history of a flash like that being worn by 14 RHA. If there was one then the Essex Yeomanry colours are dark green, red and yellow so that doesn't line up for me either. As Stephen has mentioned above, Keith Hook has never mentioned one to me and if he hasn't heard of one I think it unlikely there was.

Michael
