RWF Colonels forage cap early 1950's
A named forage cap to a honorary Colonel of the Royal Welch Fusiliers. He was first commissioned as a 2nd LT in 1952 and finished as a Honorary Colonel in June 1990. The cap itself dates to before before the reign of QEII buthas the peak for his higher rank so it was probably his original cap and he had it upgraded as his career progressed.

P. WILLIAM-JONES, T.D. (416260) retires, 30th Jun. 1990 and is granted the hon. rank of Col. Between 1960 to 1966 Lt. P. Williams-Jones is listed as being on the roll of C Company (Conwy, Bethesda) of 6/& RWF (TA). Between 1967 & 1969 Major P. Williams-Jones was Company commander of C company (Bangor) of 6/7 Bn RWF (TA) which accounts for him having the colours in his possession as they are recorded in the regimental historyas being placed in the care of a small cadre from the Bn. Williams-Jones is also listed as company commander, D company RWF, the Welsh Volunteers 1969 - 1971. During the 70's Major Williams-Jones was commanding officer, D company the 3rd Volunteer Bn RWF TA and was senior major of the Bn. P Williams-Jones is listed as Acting/Colonel TD ACF as commanding officer of Gwynedd ACF 1986-87 and then of 6th Cadet Bn 1987-91.

Thanks Peter. It is good when it is possible to research the former owner and his life, though obviously his being an officer tends to make it easier. I have some other of his items.
