Question What does this seller mean?

Hi guys,

What does this seller mean by 'gravestone card' and "issued with corrosion to" there are a couple of listings with the same description.

RAF METAL CAP HAT BADGE WITH PIN AND GRAVESTONE CARD

Cheers

I can only assume by the single photo and poor description, the seller is referring to the badge backing as a "Gravestone Card"

You may well have hit the nail squarely on the head there, thank you, what a strange phrase to use!!! Now you've said that, I can see the green on the bottom of the backing plate.

Cheers

Phil, Is the "gravestone card" meant to be the backing disc? and the corrosion is on the disc ie your green bit at the bottom

Is it safe for me to assume that the name "gravestone card" is not in common usage, amongst either collectors or servicemen?
