Unknown felt badge/insignia
Is this even military in origin? My first thought had been to do with the Girl Guides in the UK but its definately not.
Its about 2 inches tall. Black felt. Goldwork. The centre is convex as its padded. Any ideas because I'm stumped. |

I don't recognise it, but I think it looks vaguely German.

It probably is mine. I've also asked on Ebay.com but hadn't had any responses so I thought I'd have more success asking British people incase its from here or Europe.
The 2 designs it slightly resembles is the WW2 German alpine badges and the American Civil War felt cap badges. But any similarities are slight and few. |

It's way off the 'Gebirgsjäger', defo not that, I think you are closer to the Rangerpatrol (apart from it looking bullion!)
I think it looks like a pine cone upside down, there are a number of American 'Pinecone' outdoor groups. Last edited by sketchley kid; 17-08-12 at 07:45 PM. |

So it does! I hadn't seen either grapes or a pine cone until you've mentioned it. I'm also thinking a wasp nest but that makes less sense.
That's a big help. I'll try and find out more about these American youth groups/outdoors organisations and take my research in that direction. Still nothing via ebay. Curiouser and curiouser... |
