Can it be this badge was worn by the Pipes & Drums who worn white metal buttons while the entire Regiment had yellow ones?

I doubt it as I suspect there would be more than one member in the pipes and drums -only badge seen is the one in the post Also I would suspect there would be photo's or something in dress regs
