Sorry Paul, put my reply in before I saw the images. To me it feels I have a collection of authentic parts but put together in an unusual way? Thank you very much for the images, so should be dark blue/black, any idea what colour the torri would of been?

I hope they can David,
The 4th amalgamated with the 5th in 1921 only to be converted to an AA unit in the late 30’s and by 1940 became RA, units histories like this can sometimes be overlooked and forgotten about or put aside. Paul |

David,
I’d not seen your response to the images, I’m out early tomorrow but when I get home I’ll dig out my predecessor (to 4th/5th) Queens Edinburgh Rifles Glengarry which I’m sure would not of changed significantly from 1908 onwards Paul |

Hi Paul, just a thought, could the glengarry have been worn by a drummer; assuming that they followed the convention of the regular Battalions?

David, not the best photo saveable on the IBEW website but I think you’ll agree the 4ths Brass Band did not have dicing
I do think what you have are all original but just put together Paul |

Attached my glengarry to the QRVB (RS) , it’s the earlier version c1888 with the later KC wore until 1908. I’m positive they retained the non diced glengarry

I have the diced Glengarry worn by Cpl William Pottie 1/4th Bn Royal Scots and a picture of him wearing it.

I’m quite sure it’s the situation where especially the old sweats would have treasured and held onto their non diced glens. Doubtless as war progresses diced ones would have crept in more as distinctions waned due to available supplies and necessity.

Paul’s brilliant knowledge and photographic evidence had convinced me that I have an assembly of original but non related components. However Cpl Potties picture and glengarry has thrown up more possibility’s?

I would not dismiss this Glen as an assembly of non related components. CB
