Initially identified by Westlake as Royal Scots shoulder title in white metal (722)
Subsequently suggested in Westlake Supplement No 1 as worn by Rover Scouts (the over 16 section of the Scout Movement) Tim

I'm sure that's the line the museum gave me when I enquired some years ago.

This is and always was a Rover Scouts cap badge. Has nothing to do with Royal Scots

The RS badge was worn on the front of the leather hat band, Scouts Aust no longer wear a "Lemon Squeezer" hat and the RS bar is now usually worn on the top of the shoulder colour knot as worn by Rover scouts.
My hat is sitting in my wardrobe with its RS bar still in place. |
