How to clean a mother of pearl sweetheart
Hi All,
I picked up this sweetheart a couple of days ago which has some sort of stain at the bottom which I want to clean off. I'm thinking warm soapy water and a baby's toothbrush, does that sound safe on mother of pearl or is there something else I should try? Thanks a lot, Michael |

I used to use warm soapy water and a cotton wool bud to clean mine.

Thanks Luke, I take it everything was fine afterwards?

Yeah absolutely Michael. Although I’ve not checked them in 10 years so they may have disintegrated , just kidding... I hope!
Cheers, Luke |

I'm surprised that Tigerlily hasn't popped up on this thread about a nice sweetheart.

A dremell will whip it off no problem.

A dremell, now why didn't I think of that
The hot water hasn't worked so far, I'll try carefully with the tooth brush tomorrow. Michael |

I'm not sure that high speed tools like a dremel would be safe for mop, try a cocktail / match stick to give the affected areas a rub

I think a bench grinder, fitted with a wire wheel, should do the trick.

I’ll be mounting my collection on wooden boards soon. Any suggestion on best type or size of nails to use?

I reckon at least a 50mm clasp nail
