Default HMG 1809 Button

Can anyone identify the attached button. Looks like pewter with HMG 1809. I'm assuming HMG His Majesty's Government.

as a guess it might be His Majesty's Gaol? if one was opened on that date?

I think it is 1802 not 1809

Yes looks like "1802" (Cambridge County Gaol was opened in 1802 but of course there may well have been others opened that year).
