Same here. The only time the '58 bino case was ever used in my experience was for M79 rounds as by happy coincidence 3 x HE fitted perfectly inside and the padding gave better protection than the cotton bandolier they came in. The rubber armoured binos with mils graticules which appeared in the late 70s were supplied with no cases at all.

I think you mean the L11A1 (later updated to L12A1) 7x42 rubber armoured binoculars with fitted lens covers for day to day use made by Avimo which came in a fitted fibreglass Storage/Transit case as was the case for almost all technical equipment! plus a 58' Patt fitted carrying case which was demanded and issued separately, which I also never saw in use...
