Default RAF Crest ID?

Hi,

Just watched a news article about the recent deployment of the US 101st Airborne Division to Romania and saw this squadron badge on the helmet of a Blackhawk crewman.

Any ideas whose crest/badge this is?

Cheers.

Enhanced photo but still not clear .

The exercise known as Exercise Titan Salvage saw regular and reserve RAF Regiment Gunners from across the 121 Expeditionary Air Wing Force Protection detachment deploy aboard US Army Black Hawks to carry out the simulated extraction of NATO aircrew that require rescue.
Can't really match it with a squadron badge.

There is possibly an additional small scroll above the main scroll at the base. Maybe Canadian, Australian, NZ?

It's not an additional scroll, it's the squadron crest-shaped velcro patch to which the badge is attached, creating a shadow-like effect in the photo.

Could it be 202 Squadron?

I'm visually-interpreting that badge as being 425 Sqn RCAF (which doesn't make sense in terms of airframe types: Blackhawk versus CF-18 Hornets)

But: the apparent shape within the badge does (to me) resonate with 425's bird design...the concave bird wing-sweep, its white breast, and the dark low tail)

(the clue for me was that the crest looks very RCAF-style, in my opinion- the sharp scroll transition suggests this)

Looks like 425 Squadron to me, too.
There must be a story to why he is wearing it.

How about an RCAF 439 Sqn Bell Griffon pilot (normally-supporting 425 Sqn at CFB Bagotville QC) on an exchange posting to the US Army/ USAF?

You never know- one day we might actually find-out
