Default The Middlesex Regiment WW1 "mis-struck"

One of the first british badges i got was this one, The Duke of Cambridge´s Own (Middlesex) Regiment. I got it in the early 1990 from an other collector, he had took apart a very dirty "companions belt" with about 20 badges from World War 1, all corroded and most with bend sliders or lugs.
I have cleaned the badge and it is still im my collection. I wonder what had happen to the right site in view of the lower scroll. Seems like the two parts of the die-struck-tool missed each other.
Does anyone know who had made these faulty badges ?
Thanks for any comments,

regards
Markus
