An interesting article from The Toronto Star about the role of the DND historians in Afghanistan. Thinking of the millions of "pages" of material documenting the deployment is staggering. And the issues of accessing the information as technology evolves raises new questions about how "history" will be done in the future. The material could be lost,,, permanently.
In the 1960's, the Canadian archives lost much of an incredible resource when film and photos spontaneously combusted and burned. Will much of the Afghanistan material be lost when the floppy discs or cd's degrade and become corrupted?

Canada has also had a tradition of sending war artists to theatre. Afghanistan is no different.
