Default Armistice Day in Albany Western Australia

I am currently in Western Australia on a months trip visiting my son and famiy in Perth.

Whilst there, I decided to visit Albany on 11th November, hoping there would be a Remembrance Day Service/parade.

I was there, there was and it was more than I could have hoped for, albeit a smallish event, there was a lot to witness.

I think what made it for me was seeing the flags of Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain all at full mast, being placed at half mast and re-raised simultaneously.

I had a fairly long chat with The Senior Officer present, Brigadier Amanda Williamson and her RSM and was invited to attend an after service get together at the RSL premises.

I didn't go as I wanted to spend the rest of the day at The ANZAC museum, which I did and thoroughly enjoyed what I read and saw.

All in all in great day out in Albany.

I had intended putting a message on The Forum on the off chance that a Forum member would be in Albany that day, but lack of wifi prevented me.

Fabulous memories of my visit to Australia.

Regards.

Brian

Hi Brian,

Sounds like the WA locals are treating you well. I am only sorry that as I live on the East coast I cannot get to see you and repay some of the kind hospitality you showed me in getting me to and from and around the Bromley Fair all those years ago.

I haven't forgotten what a fine day out that was.

Enjoy your family holiday, cheers Dean
