Default Mystery Leather Sheath

Has anyone seen a sheath like this before? I am not 100% sure it's military but have an inkling that it is.

17" OAL, 3 3/4" wide at the top, 2" at the bottom. Flat with 2 snaps at the top flap.

Made by A. Weir, Toronto

Thanks

From a parachute escape knife.

Edit: just read properly and its 17 inches long. Perhaps not then.

Possibly a dinghy knife, though again, maybe a bit long for that.

Phil, I had thought the same thing at first for the shape of it, but at 17" that would be a small machete for the JM to swing around. A bit big. Thought about a survival machete and Snow knife as well but nothing matches.

Leigh, the shape is right for a life raft knife but as you also mentioned, the size makes it a bit big. I did do a search for life raft survival machetes but nothing close popped up...

Default Possible Sheath ID

Looks to me as though it is a sheath for a pruning saw. Length and shape look right. I assume the two snaps keep the saw in the sheath while not in use.

My thoughts anyway. Attaching image of one type of saw.

I'd go along with that suggestion.
