Default 17th Lancers

I have noticed a few 17th Lancers brass mottoes for sale recently, my question is did this badge really exist?

Any help appreciated.

Rob

As far as I am aware, no GM mottos were worn or approved. I have to wonder if at least some of these GM mottos were intended to be silver or nickel plated, but never got that far?

Bronzed mottos were worn by the 17/21 and QRL including the last Afghan tour where they were widely worn. They were bought rather than issued.

Default 17th Lancers

Thank you for the replies, my take according to Laurie Archer's notes is that this badge is spurious and never worn, although I do take CB's point that they were meant to be plated and never got finished.

Default Motto,s

When I joined the 17th/21st back in 1980 we wore nor.al motto,s soon after the Regiment started to wear a gun metal coloured exercise motto. Durri g the maze tour around 1982 special black motto,s were purchased for the tour from Gaunt via our PRI.
I don't remember when we started wearing g bronze mottos for exercise. We had them in QRL pretty much from day 1.
