Cloth insignia I.D.

Hi All,

I was sent a photograph of some insignia which belonged to a soldier serving in India with the King's Liverpool Regiment during WW2. I've struggled to trace these in Cole's, or on line.

Any information would be gratefully received.

The crossed swords are the qualification/trade badge for a PT instructor. The rose looks like a British divisional or brigade sign and the Lancastershire formations wore a red 5 petalled rose, but I'm no expert on formation patches and don't recognize this one.

the crossed swords is a PTI proficiency badge (Physical Training Instructor)

Thanks Peter and Albert, this makes perfect sense, as I know that he was an instructor for boxing, wrestling and Athletics at Karachi towards the end of the war years.

Yes, I've looked at some of the Lancastrian Divisional badges, but this one does not quite match up.

The sign, although possible a little too large, may be an East Yorks battalion flash - a similar design on a diamond was worn by 6 East Yorks. I'm sure that regimental experts will have a view on that. Mike
