Default Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Fur Cap Grenade Chromed

A recent pick up with other badges - what appears to be the cast RRF full dress grenade covered in this thread but thickly chromed;

https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=89184 .

It still has its long lugs and came with a black felt backing. Do any of the RRF guys know who might have worn this and where? I'll most likely be moving it on so interested to know what it might be. Mike

Default RRF Fur Cap Grenade WM/Chromed

Managed to find some time to return to this and found the Fusiliers Association site with some great pictures of the Assault Pioneers. The webmaster there kindly gave permission to show some of the pictures on here which seem to confirm that a plated white metal and/or chromed badge was worn by the Pioneers on the apron at one time, at least by 2RRF and possibly another battalion. The photos are pretty low res, the early ones presumably being scanned from prints, but at least each time I go back to look at them, they seem to confirm my first impression. It would still be good to have a confirmation from any of the RRF guys that this was indeed the case. The first is a pic from here
http://www.fusiliers-association.co....1/Berlin81.htm
of a 2RRF Pioneer in Berlin dated 81-83, handily standing next to some of the family silver, which seems to show a GM badge on the cap and WM on the apron. This would fit with the timescale of the cast Indian or Pakistan made badge.

Then an undated photo simply titled 'City of London' from here https://www.lancs-fusiliers.co.uk/fe...l_Pioneers.htm
which shows four pioneers with apron badges which seem to alternate GM on Scarlet, WM on black etc. No reference to which battalions.

Then this one captioned 2RRF Warwick 2014 which seems to show all four pioneers wearing WM badges on the apron, possibly with black backing, but the resolution really is low on this

Finally 2 more of all 4 Pioneers, purportedly 2RRF, one apparently showing all wearing GM on scarlet and the other dated St George's Day 2013 showing all wearing BiM(?) on scarlet - although the Pioneer 2nd left could be wearing WM. I suppose dates or Bn nos may be wrong? Having looked at all these photos for too long it's made my eyes go funny, but I believe there's a possibility that 2RRF Pioneers wore a WM badge on black backing for a time. Would be interested in other's views. I'll still be moving it on though.
