Canadian Coast Guard & Customs Service Divers?
Hi, Can anyone tell me if the Canadian Coast Guard have divers? and if so, do they have any specific insignia? Additionally does the Customs Service have their own divers? and likewise do they wear any type of diving insignia?
Would also be interested if anyone knows of any other organisation (rescue/law enforcement/maritime) that may have divers other than the Canadian Navy. Regards Tony |

Hi Tony
Are you interested in US police dive-related shoulder patches? I have one from the "City of Everett/Police/*dive flag*/Unit/Search Recovery". This is the Everett in Washington State. Please PM me if interested. Graham

Although this doesn't mention divers badges. Here is the Coast Guards Aux. Dress Regs that you may find interesting.

Coast Guard Aux is now the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue and is distinct from the Coast Guard. They don't have divers - RCMP dive team is generally working in conjuction with the RCMSAR. I worked for Canada Customs and Revenue, later CBSA, but I never worked in the maritime environments so I can't confirm that we didn't have divers, but I've never heard of them. I did hear of a remotely operated underwater vehicle for undership scans, etc.

Tony: Asked about any distinctive patches, etc. for the Calgary Fire Department Aquatic Rescue. They don't wear anything other than the standard CFD patches, with the exception that their jump suits have block letter "Aquatic Rescue" across the back. Here's the link to their page on the City of Calgary website: http://www.calgary.ca/CSPS/Fire/Page...tics-team.aspx
Hope that's of use to you. Cheer, DS.
