M15 Casque Adrian

[COLOR="Navy"]I’m after some help from our French members please. I picked up this M15 Adrian helmet last weekend whilst on a trip around the Verdun area. The helmet is named to a chap with the surname of Glavier & I believe his first name began with a B from initials pencilled onto the underside of the dome. It also looks as if at least part of his service number was 128, or something similar, from the underside of the front peak.
I have tried accessing the Grand Memorial site to see if I can look up anyone that might fit but can’t seem to gain access.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Mike, no idea why I typed 128. Looking again at the pencilled initials it is RG.

Whichever, it is a little too much of a coincidence that his name, initials and number as marked on the helmet all match with the service record. Here's the full page. Hopefully Just, Didier or one one of their countrymen can provide the general detail. From what I can make out he is entitled to a Croix de Guerre with bronze star, combatant's cross and wound medal.

Hi Kevin

Wish I'd been there to help carry your bags! Way back I taught English in France- my "cussing" French improved but I don't know about their English!

I spent a weekend in the Verdun area and experienced rain and cold plus some mud for good measure.

One day a return trip....

PS the Grand Memorial site is great. I've found the owners of two sets of dog tags I have. One did very little, the other got pretty involved in the thick of things.

I must have been busy when you posted the name and didn't check before I posted the link.

As you say , hopefully someone with knowledge of the French system/documents will be able to provide more information.

My cussing French improved during the course of a summer working in the maize fields around the Dax area. When the farmer saw us playing rugby in our camp one evening he tried to set up a game against the local team. We thought it might be the local village team, but when one Jean-Pierre Bastiat turned up to discuss arrangements we quickly found that we’d pulled a collective hamstring and sadly couldn’t field a team due to injury.

The finished refurb. I can’t decide whether or not to fit a brass commemorative plaque to the brim or not. The last photo showing the original Horizon Blue finish beneath the later war darker paint.
