Default New RTR hat badge?

Hi Guys,

I was just sent this picture showing the RTR hat badge with a new crown.

So does this mean other regimental badges are also changing crowns?

Thanks Tim.

I'm also trying to find out of the Australian Army is also changing crowns.

I've not heard anything about that as yet.

To equip the British Army with the new King’s devices (crowns and cyphers) will require changes to over 1,500 individual items (as codified by NSN). This will cover cap badges, collar badges, rank badges, qualification badges and buttons etc.

Design, approval, manufacture and issue of all the items is likely to take at least two years. As usual, replacements should not be issued until “existing stocks are exhausted”. So a mix of crowns might be seen for some time.

I remember being told that some badges had been rushed through for the Queen's coronation with her cypher on with something like only a month before the coronation to also make the alterations to her crown.

Hi, the R.C.A.C just removed the king's crown and replaced with a queen's crown. Very neat job, have to look closely to see the join, best wishes Mike

Apparently, the new badges have been approved with effect from 17th April so begs the question whether some may be seen during the Coronation in May ?

Priority for issue of new badges will be given to personnel involved in Coronation events.

Interesting that the NSN 122-4120 shown on the new Blues and Royals die is the same NSN as the current issue QC badge.

Some of the new badges may be manufactured and issued in ‘new metals’ and not as is currently the case only in anodised aluminium? For example RA, RHA and RE.

Parachute Regiment announced and displayed their new KC cap badge on their official Facebook account in the last hour as attached.

Might just be poor graphics, but the crown looks too small to my eye.

Cheers......John

Same seller also has a REME and RRF.
