Default 2 Badges to check please.

Curious on these two.
I hope my pics are good enough.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers!

The badge on the right is a genuine Royal Dragoons collar badge. The one on the left is very controversial. It is for the Royal Irish Fusiliers, but it's purpose is as yet unconfirmed. There is also some concern as to it's originality altogether.
I have one as well. I keep it as there is nothing definite regarding it, either way.

A quote from you (in 2011) got my interest :

Details about the 'captured' 8th Eagle and it's subsequent theft from the Royal Hospital Chelsea can be found on this Wiki page :

A print published in April 1811 titled "The French Imperial Eagle of the 8th regiment taken at Barrosa" is held by the Royal Collection Trust :

Spotted this:

Quote:
The Autumn 1959 Issue of “Faugh-a- Ballagh”, the Regimental Gazette of the Royal Irish Fusiliers.
I guess that somewhere within old issues there may be an explanation or even photographs about the badge.
