Trophy Belt badges
Hi, I have removed a few badges from a Trophy Belt just acquired, and would like your thoughts on these three badges, am trying to ascertain if the Belt might be made up but marks on the belt (indentations) look genuine enough! After Peace of Mind!
Reconnaissance Corps is thin and lugs not like I have seen on similar badges? Grenadier Sgt’s badge looks fine. The 5th Inniskillings causes me concerns! Many thanks in Advance will pull out a few others later on perhaps? |

5th skins badge is not one I would want in my collection, very rough.

Hi Ian, it is awful! But is it a horrible strike and real or a fake?
Belt has come from a Charity and they will not be faking belts! I hope!! |

RECCE badge
The RECCE badge could well have been re-lugged, an opinion only.

The 5th is cast and certainly not an "issue" badge. That said, I don't know what to make of it beyond that, as it is not a typical fake or restrike. I also agree the Recce is relugged.

Thank you all, had thought to just post a few badges but having mulled it over I will post an image of three badges on the belt, remove and (if I can) maybe have your thoughts on them! Removing these there had been indentations on the belt corresponding to the badges.
Many thanks for your thoughts so far, there are a couple more interesting badges |

Hope you all have a Merry New Year!
Stripped back all of the badges taking pictures of front, rear, side views. Have come to the conclusion that (as Rob mentioned regards the Reconnaissance Corps the lugs had been replaced on it) then the majority of the badges on the Belt are similar, removed badges leave a shape of the badge, that must take time for this to happen? probably with it being worn so as to make the intentation on the Leather. Also it could be that these badges were possibly discarded and have been repaired to place onto this belt rather than use a good badge? Majority of badges are generic, (why fake them!) just a few with any potential! Would appreciate your views on the badges for originality of course and if belt is real or made up? Many thanks in advance and for the comments already, Cheers! I appreciate it, billy |

They all look fine to me. I have seen a few belts faked with badges added to make up lot but yours looks OK.
The VDG badge is truly awful but one never knows whether it was added to the belt with the others or put on it at a later date. |

Belt of badges
Billy, all these look OK, the fact that some have clipped sliders makes me think they have been on this belt or maybe other belts.
The loops on the Scots Guard NCO's badge are well distressed, probably done while the belt was assembled. Rob |

A few more the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry looks fine and not re-lugged but placement is for Edwardian period? Is this badge O/K?
