KC Helmet Plates
Is there a shortage of King's Crown standard British helmet plates? Just been searching the dealers lists, plenty of centers but a distinct lack of backing plates? What is the going rate in GB £'s?

I only have one in my collection too but plenty of QVC's. Maybe the regiments didn't change over so quickly and they then wore for a shorter period of time. Even the VB's didn't rush as I have a photo of the 1st Middlesex VB in 1905 and they're still wearing the old ones.

Thanks for the replies, here's one received on another means!
"The reason for its scarcity, in comparison to the 1881-1902 pattern is the span of years it was in use - only from 1902 until 1914, although many regiments dispensed with the home service helmet long before 1914. There are other critical factors also : The mass deployment of line infantry regiments to India and South Africa after the North West Frontier/Boer Wars in peace keeping roles, when the plate would never be worn on overseas service. The reduction of line infantry batallions after 1902 is another reason. Finally, when the home service helmet was out of use (by 1914) there was a re-cycling philosophy in place and many (particularly brass) accoutrements were used in this way towards the war effort".
