Default Officers Shapska (Lance cap) - Change of Monarch, change of fitments?

It would fantastic if one of the cavalry experts on forum could answer this question. The question is to be taken in general terms, meaning any British Army Lancer unit that wore the shapska.

What I would like to know is if the officers private purchase shapska ever had the crown badge situated on the boss updated from a queens crown to a kings crown, assuming the officer served during the reign of two monarchs? Or would he just leave that badge and replace the plate?

Did this actually happen?

Thank you for your help.

Here is an example of a 21L Officers, the Plume Boss still has the QVC Cypher and the plate has the Kings Crown. But, seeing as the Regiment used the QVC cypher being "EI" I shouldnt think that the plume boss would change anyway? All the other Zapka pics that I have ..... have corresponding Boss & Plate crowns (buttons on the Plume boss)

Short answer from me is, I dont know what the common practice would be.
