G'day BC, not sure of the era of the buckle, it has the motto "In Omni Modo Fidelis", In All Things Be Faithful. I am guessing 1935 - 1960.

Slight correction. The CMF (Citizen Military Forces) existed until 1980 when it was formally re-named The Army Reserve as part of the Miller Committee recommendations, although the latter title had been in use during the 1970's. During the 1930's it was also known as the Militia although the correct designation was CMF. Cheers Chris |

Westralian rifles 44th battalion badge
Alan I see you have the 44th in your collection would you be willing to sell it to me here in Perth Australia ?
QUOTE=Empire collector;46788]Hello Australia, I find the Australian lineage-numbering system an absolute nightmare. I collect uniform & badge images (cannot afford the real thing any more!). The 'collection' is stored on CDs & the index is updated on the computer. The Citizen's Military Force all changed after the First World War & the numbering reflected the AIF battalions, am I right? But I have a number of post 1920 infantry regiments that I cannot link to their previous CMF units, if they had any. They are; 13th Maitland Rgt 22nd Richmond Rgt 33rd New England Rgt 34th Illawara Rgt 35th Newcastle's Own Rgt 36th St George's English Rifle Rgt 37th Henty Rgt 44th Western Australia Rifles 45th St George Rgt 49th Stanley Rgt 52nd Gippsland Rgt 53rd West Sydney Rgt 55th New South Wales Rgifle Rgt 60th Heidelburg Rgt I also have CMF regiments that stop in 1914, so I am hoping that you might be able to link them together. If someone has the time during the cold lonely Australian winter to answer my query I would be very grateful. All the best, Alan.[/QUOTE] |

Hi Ken,
They look good to me. There's a couple of cloth Air Dispatch patches that I haven't seen before. Are they up for trade? Mick Quote:

No my friend
Funnily enough Mick, I brought these items from an Aussi on eBay a few years back, ................ for, .......... wait for it, ................ £10 incl p+p lol The only 3 items that I added to this collection was; RACT AD camo, RAASC Cloth shirt AD Brevet and the top RACT Cap Badge (given to me by a Cpl who was on loan to us in 36 Sqn RCT in the 1980's) But the AD Bulliion Brevet I gave to someone interested in it. I have not seen one since I got hold of it, all are very hard to come by, I no, as the RACT and Air Despatch were a very small unit, and still are. Ken

I think that Line 4, #7 belongs to the Dutch East Indies Military personell. As some of thoes who escaped the Jap invasion in WW2 and landed in Australia, ending up fighting under the Australian Air Force, would they belong in an Australian collection? Regards, Dave |
