Leicestershire regiment cap badge: backing?
Here comes a coloured sidecap badged to the Leicestershire Regiment: is there any peculiar meaning of the red cloth badge backing? Related to one of the battalions? Thank you in advance for your help!

Leics Regt badge backing
Hi,
In 1948 a WO survey of Dress & Embellishements revealed no information about a badge backing having been worn by the Leicestershire Regt at that time. The Regiment applied for authority to wear a badge backing. 15.08.50. The WO Dress Committee recorded that no previous authority could be found so authorisation was granted for a green badge backing.
