5th Gurkha Rifles - genuine or fake?

Hi,

Please could someone advise if this Gurkha badge is genuine or fake? Badge appears to be made of white metal.

Also, would this be a collar or cap badge?

It’s a modern reproduction, if you go on eBay you’ll see around a dozen of these at anyone time. The easiest “tell” is that at the bottom of the 5 where it joins the kukris on the right side there is a “ hanging shard” . On genuine period pieces there is no such shard.
