Probably my best but also my favorite find of the year just came in the other week.

A very rare and beautiful Georgian button to the 1st Demerara Militia.

Cheerio,

Roy

The button my Dad, the button collector, could never find and never used the internet (he passed away in early 1996). The pre-WW1 pattern DCLI button. I paid far too much for it, but that wasn't the point.

As you say my friend - sometimes the money just isn't the ping. Well said.

Cheerio,

Roy

Being a REME collector, the opportunity to acquire the 'QUETTA' badge was and is a must. Being a very scarce and somewhat mysterious badge, I'm not totally convinced that either of these is genuine, but given that there are so few 'on the market' (I've only ever seen four, one from a dealer, one from a member on this site and the two I now have). The 'bronzed' badge is on lugs but the 'brass' badge has a slider. Both obviously of theatre manufacture as expected, but genuine or not??

Default Best find of 2018

Nice finds guys

Had a couple of excellent finds this year so hard to decide, but my favourite find of 2018 would have to be this chrome button from the Fujairah Police, probably used during the latter days of the Trucial States/early days of the United Arab Emirates. Only two more Emirates to go!

Good hunting in 2019

Hi John

I also have 1, but like you not sure if it is genuine or not. Still is in pride and place in my REME collection.

Regards Ian

Regret to say that I didn't actually "find it". Someone else did the hard work - I simply benefitted. - AEC Plastic with both blades intact.

The RASC Fleet badge. Waited for ages for one to come along and then two did, both with the die flaw under HONI on the scroll.

These are mine, but once again I didn't do the hard work, these were spotted by Slick Mick, thanks again Mick.

Your welcome mate! Merry Christmas!

For me its all the WW1 Cavalry badges I picked up this year. Looking to finish that set in 2019.
