Default QYR and LSH

Hi, are these officers badges? if not how long have Canadian badges been produced in high polish and dead metal finish? Also when did the QYR change to a queen's crown? Thanks in advance Mike

Hi, maybe I didn't phrase my question correctly. The Queens York Rangers badge seems to have a different shaped crown. The previous crowns have side pieces to the top making it look more like a continental crown, whereas the new badge has what I would call a conventional queens crown. I have added pics to show what I mean, in the next post, best wishes Mike

Not a heraldically correct crown and perhaps the reason why it was changed?

Rgds, Thomas

Default QYR And LdSH

I would say both OR cap badges. LdSH Officers cap badges are silver and the QYR Officers Cap Badge is a different (wider) design

Hello. Is one badge white? Hard to tell on my phone. If so it is a Cadet badge. Brass one is early. Queens Rangers were joined with the 12th York Rangers in the thirties. I can show my full set of badges if a can figure out how.

Let's try that again.

I believe the crown is Queen Charlottes whom they were named after. The officers badge is more detailed and wider. Brass is early and the chrome is used now as is the white (Cadet) one. Details are vague that I have found.

Hi Mark, sorry I couldn't get on to your site. I have now found an officer's cap badge. This has what I would call a QE2 type crown. What I would like to know is when they changed from the Queen Charlotte crown. Do you or anyone else know when the change occurred? Thanks in advance Mike

That's a nice display you have there.

I have only found the white Cadet badge with a new crown. All others from 1936 to now have the odd one with the exception of officers. I'll scan a photo I have from the thirties with the officers badge. Their Armouries are in the next town from me. I'll see what I can find out. Display is two years hunting.cheers

This photo shows officers shortly after WW1 with the officers badge that has the QE2 crown you mentioned. The silver and brass badges do not. Even today.
