Default Officers 215th Bn CEF interesting construction

I recently purchased a 215th Bn Officers badge which I assumed was browning copper with a silver overlay on the numerals. After I had lightly cleaned the numerals I noticed a few small spots on the remainder of the badge appeared silver as well. When I looked closer at the back it became evident that the entire badge was silver including the lugs and and the majority had been treated to appear as a browning finish. This is similar to construction on the 200th Bn badge as well as a 203rd Bn which I also have. The plethora of finishes on CEF badges still astounds me after many years.

So then is this the sterling silver (1918) officers cap badge that Cross mentioned all be it in a toned down or camo finish on top of the silver. It appears that Cross believed that there were "non camo" versions out there as well. Yet another example of the rules governing CEF badges...... the first rule is that there are no rules.
Thank you
Don

Do you think the badge is sterling or plated?

I just cannot tell visually, even looking at it under magnification. Not all Sterling badges were marked so at this time, but most were. The construction of the badge is unusual as well in that it is thinner than an OR'S.
