when doing research into badges you have to do 2 kinds, (1) what the regs say,(2) what actually can be be seen in dated photos.(not photos dated by what they are wearing).
there is sometimes quite an overlap in regs being put into practice.
in one photo there are officers wearing the cap star with harp on the early (station masters forage cap) and other officers wearing the smaller osd cap star on the later peaked cap.

ps i have seen pic of the leics still wearing the brodricks dated 1908.
i have only seen brodricks with the tiger badge.
officers also wore the osd cap star as collars.
