Default Queen's Own Rifles Medals & Badges

Hello All,

Attached are photos of part of a grouping to a member of the QOR which I acquired several years ago. His service is impressive; WW2, the Korean War, and the ICSC. Cheers,

Walt

Walt,

Very impressive. There seems to be one more ribbon than medals. I'm not a medals guy, and I was wondering if you knew why?

Cheers,
Dan.

Hi Dan,

The additional ribbon on the undress medal bars is the for the ICSC Vietnam medal, which was not court mounted with the other medals. I was pondering having it added to the rack, but for display, decided to leave it "as found" in the original box of issue by the manufacturer (Bartons Jewellers, Bangalore, India). Unfortunately, a miniature version was not included in the lot.

Thanks again to member "Investment" for fixing my wonky photos. For some reason, I can't seem to edit them properly. Cheers,

Walt

Walt,

I considered that, but the ribbon on the standalone medal looks like green/white/orange while the ribbon for the extra one in the medal bar looks like blue/white/red. Or is it just the lighting of the photograph?

Dan.

Hey Dan,

They're both the same. It's a result of the photo quality. The colour of the ICSC ribbon is green/white/red. Cheers,

Walt

Hi Walt

Nice grouping. Great variety of service.

Officer # appears to be ZL-4842. I wonder if he was non-commissioned in the the SWW and what his Regt'l # was.

Awarded the Efficiency Medal as a 2/Lt (RCIC) in Army Order #348- 17 Aug 1953.

CD awarded 25 July 1960 in AO#673. Capt in QOR.

Again, nice rack.

regards
Darrell

Thanks for the info Darrell. The service # you provided checks out. Upon further research, I also discovered the following link regarding his SWW service:

Cheers, Walt
