http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320348978004

dont get many hallmarked badges to the grand now do you??

WW2 the battalion served uder 21st Indian Infantry Brigade in North Africa and Italy. Converted to Para/MG Btn in 1946

if anyone on here bought it, I'd be interested to know what the date letter in that hallmark is. (I won't pester the seller now its over - foolishly I thought I was in with a chance of winning it )

Default Silver badges

Mike,
Having tracked this badge online, I can only say, that I knew it would go for "good money". There seems to be a renewed interest in Indan Army Badges, especially, hallmarked items.

I think a big market will open up for Indian material in the not too distant future - India itself - in part thanks to the relative demise of western currencies - Ive sent a fair number of items back that way myself in recent years. I'm sure it will strengthen. ( assuming the masters of the universe can avoid a global depression of course. )

I think this badge went a bit high price wise, but I also note that good Indian badges have been popular as of late. I used to have a small collection back in the early 80's which I let go of, but have been getting back into them over the past year as well.

Default Indian Badges

These are from my late fathers collection.
The Burma Police has just been cleaned with detergent for the first time in 50 years.
