Default A couple of unknown British cloth badges

Chaps, anynideas on the following:-

1. Looks like its probably ACF or a CCF etc?

2. Union flag embroidered on a blach shield. Has the appearance of some age. No idea if it is indeed.military.

Thoughts and opinions welcomed.

Regards all

Bess

If the chequered one is red and white it's Argylls related

My first thought too, re the Union Jack badge - but I couldn't remember if there would lettering at the top.
But what are the odds of it being genuine?

The A & SH sprang immediately to mind re. The chequered badge, bur it's light blue instead of white?

I think the sky blue and red check badge may have RAF or ATC connections?

Default Brit badges

The red white check might relate to 56 squadron RAF rather than A&SH.

It is sky blue and red not white and red, but still perhaps RAF?

I have been pondering the first badge shown with the sky blue and maroon chequered band and have two suggestions:

A) Could it be specific to a particular RAF squadron, perhaps derived from the chequered banding some squadrons sported on their aircraft between the wars?

B) Could it be a combat version of the chequered hat bands worn by RAF apprentices, for use during field training and exercises?

Just my thoughts, for what they are worth.

All the best

Graham
