Default Essex Scottish bandsmen badge

I have recently acquired an Essex Scottish cap badge which has been chromed . It is original, no maker marks, die stamped, original lugs and chromed over the white metal. Appears to be older. I currently own another that is Roden Bros marked white metal, I have seen the brass variety and the cast variety as well. I have not seen a chromed one before. Is it a home job or bandsmen ??

Perhaps a Piper's badge? From the content of your post you have checked the other threads on the Essex on the Forum, and some of the discussion about the various finishes?
