Unknown helmet plate

I have bought a small collection of British badges and this item was amongst them, I think it is probably continental, possibly German, it is 115mm from point to point.

Your thoughts and ideas welcome.

To be honest Saxon Infantry are not really my thing, it is in good condition, not that it means much as to originality and I may move it on if members think it's a good one.
