Default Para Wing Opinion's

This pair came out of a collection of British badges purchased recently. Have been unable to find anything similar while researching. It was with other British wings so I assumed it was also, but starting to have doubts. Would be interested to hear other's thoughts.

It is a full sized wing and has been worn. The background material at first glance appeared to be RAF.

thanks
Jack

Has anyone seen anything similar before?

Thanks

Hi Jack,

I haven't seen anything like it in bullion. If it was a wing for normal wear, ie not bullion, I'd say the wing had the look of a locally made, India / Burma / Malaya wing.

The material certainly looks to have a nice aged look so I think you have a nice original wing from the 40's or 50's.

Hello Paul,

Had not thought of a locally made variant but as you mention it does have that shape and look too it. Thanks for your thoughts.

Best
Jack

I wondered about vague similarities to Force 133 Wing?
See continuous outer wing edge/feather, five rigging lines etc.

I recently had a similar query, regarding a RAF Regiment flash which was also gold wire construction. It turned out that it was worn on the short lived RAF Officers Uniform of 1947 - 1950. All badges on that uniform were gold wire embroidered, Pilots wings etc. Perhaps your para wing is for that period.

Hello Mike, that was one of my first thoughts. I noticed the overall resemblance to the wing you posted. I held off to see what others opinions were. Thanks for weighing in on this.

The backing material does look similar to RAF. A bit more bluish than the WW2 uniform color... thanks for your input.

Always good to see variants and see what others think.
