Bombay Presidency War and Relief Fund
I wonder if anybody knows anything about the Bombay Presidency War and Relief Fund?
In 1918 the Womens Branch of this organistation gave a metal matchbox cover as a parting gift. I assume to the British troops who had been on garrison duty in India and were now on their way home to "Blighty". http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3817640056...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Also, does anybody know if this organisation presented any other items to the troops?

Bombay Presidency War & Relief Fund
During World War I, Lord Willingdon, the governor of Bombay, created the India War & Relief Fund (Bombay Branch) where all the native and princely states neighbouring the Bombay Presidency contributed along with the people of the Bombay Presidency. As a part of that, the Women and Childrens Branch was also established for war victims. Lady Willingdon, president of these branches, led them for collection of funds. As a part of this effort, couple of labels were issued to encourage people to donate. In 1917, the Children's Branch also issued 2 bronze medals/token for the Bombay Presidency War & Relief Fund. The medal carried President Lady Willingdon's signature on the obverse and a child on the reverse. There are also two matchbox covers including this one there is also a rectangular token with the same design as on this matchbox Last edited by Khyber; 19-09-16 at 01:23 AM. Reason: adding mater |

No doubt the illustration seen on the ebay link in post 1 will be gone before too long.
For future reference, here is the "Farewell" matchbox cover:
