Default Hello

Hello all,

I joined this forum about a month ago & am finally making my first post.

I've been collecting about 3 months & thought I'd share my collection with you all. I don't have photos of the backs of any but if any of you want a picture of the back of any, just shout. I think they're genuine but I'd appreciate any feedback about any slip ups I might have made. Cheers.

Starting with the first 15.

Edited to add: I'm not sure if my first posts are in the right forum.

Hi and welcome!

It might be an idea to create an album and upload all the images to it. If you can get pics of the rears that always helps in authenticating, as sliders, lugs etc are often useful tells.
It'll make it easier for members to browse and comment upon.

Cheers

Colin

Before you go any further, please post pictures of the rears of this lot, because so far I am a little worried for you.

Thanks for the replies so far.

I'll try & get photos of the rears posted later tonight.

Out of curiosity, what is it that you've seen so far that is giving you cause for concern?

For one, The Birmingham Pals is a reproduction. It should have a "beard" and "fur".

Patina, rear fittings, metals used, well known fake badges - We will know more when the backs are revealed.

On the right -hand side of the main screen, under the main banner, you'll see a box with your screen name in blue and underlined. Clicking on this will bring you to your "home" page.
Below your profile picture you'll see 5 tabs. One is called "statistics" Click on that. The second field down is called "albums". Click on that.
That should give you the option to create a folder. Once named, you then have the option to upload pics to this album'.

Cheers

Hello AB,

I'll have a crack at one of your London badges: Finsbury Rifles.

One thing you will ascertain once you get to grips with the forum's search facility, is that the little raised mark below the word 'ARIS', on the upper arm of the cross, is considered among many collectors to be the mark of a fake Finsbury Rifles badge (hope you don't mind me reproducing part of your image below, in order to illustrate the point?). I am sure you'll agree that nobody likes a spotty ARIS!

In addition, your badge appears to have lugs, or loop fixings, as opposed to a slider; potentially, also a sign of a moody badge for this unit.

Lastly (and this can also, on occasions, be a bone of contention), the crown is non-voided.

Finsbury Rifles.jpg

So for each of these reasons, I would say that this particular badge is very likely not to be a genuine example.

Regards,

JT

Thanks for the tips.

I don't mind about reproducing part of my image, it was very helpful.

I'm off to work now so hopefully I should get the album sorted later.

Cheers

Steve

Ok, I've got them uploaded into an album showing fronts & backs. I appreciate some of the photos aren't great so if you want a picture showing a particular part of a badge, let me know & I'll sort it out.

Also, Jelly Terror, what do you mean when you say "the crown is non-voided"? I don't understand.

Cheers

Steve
