Default UNKNOWN BADGE

I've had this in my collection for sometime . I think it may be the 2nd King Edwards Own Gurkhas , but I might be wrong . What do you think ?

Hi spencer,
it is indeed the 2nd Gurkha rifles. It seems to be a locally made/bazar one. It should be black painted on the face as well.
Locally made cast ones do turn up. It is a widespread veiw that these were made during WWII when the rapid expansion exhausted the QM stores.
The issue badge is Die struck.

Well this pattern badge was worn for 83 years and has been made in UK, India, Hong kong, singapore and Egypt. My opinion is that it is one of those made in Egypt, in the bazar to make up local short fall in the offical Govt issue.
So whilst not Gov issue, I am happy that it was Regt issue (they paid) of the period. A collegue has a similar badge, poorly cast on the rear which can be traced back to the 20's. the ones made in India although cast are better finished.
