Upside down!
Very interesting - unfortunately spoilt slightly by the RAF chevrons and Chaplain collar badges being upside down!!

Lots of interesting insignia, including some rare ones. The captioning leaves a lot to be desired.
Bombardier = aerospace company (or earlier, snowmobiles...) should be Air Bomber Empire Flight Training Scheme should be British Commonwealth Air Training Plan

I disagree with their categorisation of the gold-wire "A"s, as being 'auxiliary' naval insignia (RN/FAA). I think these look more like AAF/RAuxAF No5 mess-dress lapel badges (although I find the colour of the backing cloth difficult to identify). All rather 'loosely curated'....if this is typical of Smithsonian presentation, I'd be very surprised. Lint, dust, random threads. Curious. But some fascinating examples, regardless |

The gold wire A's are for the loop on the rank of the RN Air Branch.
