Photo of Officer in Service Dress(?) Unidentified Insignia.

Can anyone identify the unit of this man please?
I won't list the nationalities or units I have considered (British, Commonwealth, Irish, OTC etc.........) especially as I've "lost" this thread four or five times when I've tried to post it.
I can't make out any rank insignia.
the insignia is reminiscent of WWII era French Commando Marine but with the sprays of leaves, then again it also resembles other badges for a variety of units.
