Default Duke of Lancaster's Regiment "Lion" Patch

I have come across this picture showing a Lion of England patch worn by 2/Lancs while serving in Afghanistan in 2010, together with a large British Forces Cyprus patch. Can anyone confirm if these were produced especially for this tour as "morale" patches or are they still used as well as the usual TRF?

I have been told that they were worn only for the period of the partnership with the Estonian unit, which is represented by the 3 Lions shield. I have been after one of each since they were worn, home HQ denied all knowledge of them.
